La Distinction Academy is a small program by design. That lets us know every child and respond quickly when something needs attention.
We follow strict safety measures throughout the day so families can trust that their children are cared for in a secure, attentive environment.
Health routines throughout the day
Hand-washing and hygiene are built into every transition — not treated as an afterthought.
- Arrival & hand-washing
- Before & after meals
- Toileting & diaper changes
- Classroom transitions
- Gloves for food service
Policies families should know
The Parent Handbook has complete illness, medication, and allergy policies. Here is a quick overview.
Daily cleaning
- Play areas and toys cleaned with state-approved solutions
- Frequently touched surfaces sanitized throughout the day
- Shoe-free playroom to keep floors cleaner for floor play
Health records & illness
- Annual physical exams and up-to-date immunizations required
- We contact families immediately if a child becomes mildly ill
- COVID-19: five-day isolation before return, per enrollment guidance
Clean spaces, caring staff
Children and staff wash hands at arrival, before and after meals, and during transitions. Staff wear gloves when serving food and changing diapers — routines families can see and trust.
Health & safety questions
We contact the family right away. Mildly ill children rest apart from the group while we reach you. The Parent Handbook explains when a child may return.
Yes. We require up-to-date immunization records and an annual physical exam for every enrolled child, in line with Massachusetts child care requirements.
When a child tests positive, they stay home for five days before returning. We share current guidance with families at enrollment and update the handbook when guidance changes.
